Blue, white and silver Industrial magic

Working with 2 other photographers, 3 models, 2 MUA’s and a stylist across 5 locations around a building we put together a blue, white and silver inspired industrial shoot.  The behind the scenes photos were taken by Vicki and you can see them on her blog.

‘Fashion Phobia’ shoot at Planet Reptile

Fashion-Phobia

Trying to pull together 3 models, a snake, spider and bearded dragon and matching makeup was not all that easy, but Gemma and I came up with the shoot idea of ‘Fashion Phobia’.  The actual finished photos you can find on my flickr photostream.

‘The Bird’ transformation

Cherry-Vixon-2

I was approached by Amanda Thompson otherwise known as Cherry Vixon on MM or Magnolia on Myspace.  A very creative model who has a huge collection of looks, clothes, wigs and props. Together with the creative skills of Gemma Sutton on makeup we came up with a bird inspired look.  Click the image to see the full transformation.

The latest Oxford Fashions

Gemma-Sutton

I was asked to shoot some clothes by Charlotte Scaplehorn in Oxford in conjunction with fashion stylist Emma Kimber and Makeup Artist/model Gemma Sutton.  We arrived at 8pm so had to shoot quickly to get the 3 looks we were after.  I also had to do some punting down river to get the first shot.  For the record I am not good at punting.  Here’s the best 3 shots.

‘The Doll’ shoot transformation

Vicki Blatchley Doll transformation shoot

I’m really pleased to be working with a new professional makeup artist Gemma Sutton on some new shoot ideas.  She’s an ex model, but also a fantastically creative artist; one of the best I’ve worked with. You can see a few of the final shots from this shoot on my flickr stream.

We had a shoot idea to create a ‘doll’ look using some extreme makeup, a wig and fake lashes and using my lightring.  I took photos during the transformation of Vicki and was so staggered when I saw the result.  Here it is from start to finish, showing the progression of hair, makeup, lighting, and then finally a bit of post-production.  Any questions or comments just add below.

Rosa Bloom – Swindon’s newest designer

Theatrical dress-up goes to Glasto!

Rosa Bloom fashions - group shot

I saw in the local Swindon Link Magazine a story about a young local fashion designer, Rosa Hirsh-Holland (who works under the name Rosa Bloom) who was taking her new collection to sell at Glastonbury.  Her pieces are what I can best describe as ‘theatrically burlesque’ with lots of colour, fabrics and with a real element of dress up.  I contacted her to see if she’d be interested in a shoot.  She was also contacted by a local graduate stylist Emma Kimber who has been looking to expand her book.   The last member of the team we pulled in was Gemma Sutton, a local professional makeup artist who’s work I’d seen was truly superb.  We then found a farm in Lechlade to shoot on, and last Sunday we set out with models; Sherie Smith (current Miss Swindon), Jaimie Goodenough, Jo Phelan, Helen Drew and Vicki Blatchley to see what we could create.  The resulting photos are the best from the day.
