Using the skills of OMG Hair and Beauty in Swindon, we transformed model/photographer and friend of mine Vicki Blatchley.

Borrowing a good friend Liz, a £1,000 dress from Harmony Brides and using the Bridal Suite of Stanton House Hotel, Gemma Sutton, a regular bridal makeup artist and hair stylist set to work on making up Liz to be a stunning bride. I took inspiration from the Sex and The City Movie where Cary is doing her vogue shoot.

Arranged for some Swindon College girls to be shot 60’s style in new nightclub Sin in Swindon. Makeup and hair by OMG Hair and Beauty. The behind the scenes photos were taken by Vicki and you can see them on her blog.

There’s a bunch of us on flickr who met up to practise using off camera flash down at Coate Water Park on Saturday. It was great to meet some local like minded photographers and get some challenging shots in masses of wind and rain. Here is a before and after of a shot of Vicki holding her 40D.

The Prodigy's Keith Flint in the crowd
Europe’s biggest free music festival comes to Swindon
The usual expectation of ‘festivals’ – smelly campers, wet mud and unmentionable toilets were certainly not to be found at the BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend, this year held in sunny Swindon. I was asked to photograph the event and join 20 or so festival pro’s in the ‘pit’.
The BBC being the BBC, they were incredibly strict about everything ‘No photo’s backstage, 8 photographers in the pit at one time, 1 song to shoot and you have to be escorted from the press tent to the stages all day. Despite all this, it was a spectacular event, you’ve got to hand it to them. Polished, ran like clockwork and the only glitch was The Prodigy’s enhanced sound system blowing the power after 2 songs.
My shots from the event are available through Famous Pictures Agency and I’ll be posting some up on here and on flickr. Here’s a small selection:

Yesterday I did the photoshoot for 15 of the 20 Miss Swindon & Miss Wiltshire Finalists (5 were unable to attend). Shooting 15 girls in 3 hours was no easy feat but somehow we managed it. Headshots below:

I’ve managed to get a photography pass for the Radio 1 Big Weekend, which I’m pretty happy about, although the lineup isn’t as good as it could be, but I still think they’ve got a few surprise announcements to make. Looking forward to shooting the Prodigy, but I must really get a longer telephoto lens. Anyone else going? You can post comments on this blog below.
